Piha is a black iron sand beach about 40 kilometres from Auckland, on New Zealand’s North Island. The 40 kilometre drive is tortuous and takes around 90 minutes.
It was a grey wet day, raining and overcast. The beach was beautiful.
This series of images were taken with a digital camera and are full colour images, the subtle tones or brown and grey accurately representing what I could see on the beach and in the water. The small splashes of colour in the suits of the bathers adding flashes of interest.
